How can I automate handling of my employee's requests to reset forgotten passwords?
In the latest version of Timesheet you can include a link on the Timesheet login page for resetting passwords. This link can be enabled or disabled under Configuration → System Settings → Security → Password Settings. You can also customize the text of the email containing password reset instructions and designate an administrator email address for password reset failure notification (i.e., an employee requesting password reset doesn't have an email address in his/her user profile).
Can I set up an account for a new employee, including approvals and notifications, before the new hire is scheduled to start?
In the latest version of Timesheet, you have the ability to designate an Employee Start Date. One of the purposes of the start date is to allow you to fully configure a new employee account without actually turning it "on". The start date controls when the new employee can login to the system (on or after the start date), and it also determines when reminder and late notices begin getting sent to the account. The start date field is available in the Custom Fields section of the User Create/Modify screen under Management → Users → User Management. The start date should be set at the time the new employee account is created in order to guarantee administrators and timekeepers don't inadvertently enter records for the new employee before his/her start date.
