Journyx Timesheet is designed for integration with 3rd-party programs and databases. Journyx provides the jxAPI, an XML/SOAP interface, with all Timesheet installations. Many customers find using the jxAPI to integrate their other applications with Timesheet to be a simple, straightforward process. Additionally, Journyx has a growing suite of import and export tools that are being built by the Professional Services Team as they work with our customers on custom integrations.

Whether your company uses the jxAPI or purchases one of the Import/Export Tools, you can rest assured that you will be working with knowledgeable professionals as you integrate Timesheet with your organization's existing infrastructure.

Important Terms: Concepts in integrations

Timesheet The solution to your time-, expense-, and mileage-tracking and approval needs.
3rd-party Application Any other product or database, whether it was built in-house, bought off-the-shelf, or custom-written for your company by another company.
Import Bringing data into Timesheet from a 3rd-party Application.
Export Sending data from Timesheet to a 3rd-party Application.
Integration
  • Usually an Import and an Export between Timesheet and a 3rd-party Application.
  • Often the Import and Export will be automated, happening on a schedule and completely behind-the-scenes.
  • Sometimes several automatic Imports and Exports with multiple 3rd-party systems can be occurring simultaneously. In these cases primary administrative tasks that are normally performed by a local Timesheet Administrator may be reduced to nearly zero, replaced by data feeds.
jxAPI
  • An XML/SOAP interface for querying the Timesheet database, allowing data to be read and written directly into the database - bypassing the web interface.
  • The jxAPI is included in every Timesheet download, at no additional charge.

Import/Export Tools
  • Web-based modules that can be purchased to complement your Timesheet system.
  • Tools that work from within Timesheet's web interface and security module that allow importing and exporting data.

Fortunately, in those cases, we have an experienced team and quality tools to draw upon.
