What types of data can I import in text files using the standard tools in Journyx Timesheet?
Journyx Timesheet includes a full set of import tools that administrators can access by default under Configuration → Imports. These tools provide import capabilities for data in text files and Excel spreadsheets. Imports can be used to populate a new system with configuration data, or they can be scheduled to run automatically to keep Timesheet data in synch with other systems/data sources. Imports are also effective tools for making widespread configuration changes to existing systems.
Most configuration data (names, descriptions, related custom fields) can be imported, including but not limited to: users, groups, projects, other entry column values, project column dependencies, accrual balances, memorized entries, approval plans and time/expense/mileage records. On-screen help includes explanations of what fields can be manipulated for each type of data import and sample import files (text and Excel).
Can I assign Journyx Timesheet import abilities for specific types of data to specific employees?
Yes. The standard import tools in Journyx Timesheet include a feature for assigning specific import types to specific Timesheet Roles for custom access to run imports. Administrators have access to all of the standard import types by default, but ad-hoc access for other roles can be configured under Configuration → Imports → Import Tool Access.
