I'm using Project Approvals in Timesheet to finalize my records - how do I ensure that all of my finalized records will be transferred to MS Project or QuickBooks when I synchronize the programs?
By default, all records that reach the final level of the designated period or sheet approval process in Timesheet are flagged for synchronization with MS Project or QuickBooks. If you have purchased Journyx Projectlink or Journyx Accountlink, these "finalized" records will be transferred during synchronization as part of the standard integrations package.
However, you may choose to use project approvals or a combination of project and period approvals to finalize your records. If you decide to use project approvals and you want records that have reached the final level of the project approval process to be synchronized, you can enable the setting for synchronizing project approved records under Global Settings. As an Administrator simply click on the Global Preferences link on the main Admin page and select Application Synchronization Preferences from the menu at the left. Change the "Take Project Approval into consideration when returning records to MSP and QuickBooks" setting to Yes, and records approved via a project approval process will be synchronized as well.
Why does Journyx recommend having a test site for your Timesheet installation?
As a rule, it is always a good idea to test changes to your configuration on a test site that includes your production data. Using a test site allows you to login as the affected users and verify that changes in process will work as anticipated. Test sites are also highly recommended as an integral part of the upgrade process when new versions of Timesheet are available. Test sites allow you to try out new features and check how data created in a previous version is handled in the new release. By testing your changes on a test site you avoid any possible interruptions that may arise from the need to test changes on your live production site.
