Journyx Excellence In Productivity Philosophy Essay Scholarship 2009 Official Rules
MUST BE OVER 18 YEARS OLD TO ENTER. Participation constitutes entrant's full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules and the decision of Journyx. The Journyx Time Management Essay Scholarship Contest ("Contest") commences at 12:01 am CDT on September 1, 2008 and ends at 5:00pm CDT on June 1st, 2009. No entries received after 5:00 pm CDT on June 1st, 2009 will be considered, unless the closing date is extended as provided in the "How to Enter" section. Contest is sponsored and run by Journyx, Inc. at Journyx, Inc., 9011 Mountain Ridge Drive, Travis Building, Suite 200, Austin, Texas 78759 ("Sponsor").
Program Overview
Journyx is committed to eradicating cost ignorance from our knowledge worker society and leading organizations to the highest levels of profitability through innovation. Our scholarships are designed to improve the philosophy and the technology of project accounting. Students will be awarded scholarships in recognition of their passion for improving the lives of knowledge workers through technology, academic excellence, and the ability to make a difference in the project accounting technology industry.
(1) Eligibility: The contest is offered to any person of any nationality, older than 18 years of age as of the date of entry, who is a resident of the United States. Entrants must be enrolled as a full-time student (nine semester hours or equivalent) at an university in the United States. Employees, independent contractors, officers, and directors of Sponsor, its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising, promotion and fulfillment agencies, and legal advisors, and the immediate family members and persons living in the same household of such persons, are not eligible to participate in the Contest. Void where prohibited by law.
(2) How to Enter: Entrants are asked to write on ONE of the following topics: (i) Persuade someone who doesn't want to track his time on a per-product per-activity basis why it is in his best interests to do so, OR (ii) Describe a real situation that you've encountered where project oriented time tracking has made a positive difference in the world. Only one essay may be submitted per entrant. Essays must not be more than 1,000 words in length. Journyx will not return essays or any collateral materials that might be submitted by contestants. Entrants must submit the following application materials along with the required essay by June 1, 2009: (i) an official academic transcript which must contain entrant's spring semester grades for the academic year in progress, and (ii) a copy of entrant's resume that includes e-mail address, campus address and phone number, student ID number, permanent address and phone number, major and expected graduation date. To be eligible, all application materials must be received by email to scholarship@journyx.com by 5:00pm CST on June 1, 2009 for the academic year beginning September of that year. If in the opinion of the judges no entry deserving of the prize is received by the aforesaid date, the Sponsor reserves the right to extend the contest for six (6) months. Entrant must be the sole author of entry . Use of images and works in the public domain may be incorporated into entries. However, materials which infringe on the rights of any third party may not be used. Sponsor is not responsible for late, lost, spam-filtered, stolen, delayed, damaged, misdirected, incomplete, illegible, or unintelligible entries. Incomplete or illegible entries are not eligible and are considered void. All submissions become property of the Sponsor and may be reused in whole or in part by the Sponsor in its sole discretion.
(3) Prizes: One (1) scholarship winner will be chosen to win a one-time award of $500 towards tuition reimbursement. This reimbursement will be mailed directly to the college or university and will be credited to the winner's tuition. The winner's name will be posted at the Journyx.com site. All federal, provincial, state and/or local taxes on prizes are solely the responsibility of the winner. Odds of winning depend upon the number of entries received. No alternative prize, or other substitution is permitted except by Sponsor in the event of prize unavailability. Prize is nontransferable.
(4) Winner: The winner will be selected by the end of July. A panel of judges will evaluate all eligible entries based on the following criteria: Scoring will be based on a thirty (30) point scale: Ten (10) point maximum for creativity/originality in approach to addressing the theme chosen, ten (10) point maximum for applicability of idea to a practical real-world business setting, and ten (10) point maximum for clarity of message. In the event of a tie, the winner will be chosen based on the objective opinion of the judges regarding which entry provides the most sound business strategy to improving project accounting. All decisions by the judges are final and binding. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entry which is, in the judging panel's discretion, inappropriate, offensive, or demeaning to Sponsor's reputation or goodwill. The winner will be notified by either e-mail, phone or regular mail by the end of July and shall be required to complete an affidavit or declaration of eligibility/liability-publicity release which must be signed and returned so that it is received within 10 days of the date printed on the prize notification, or the next highest score entrant will be awarded the respective prize. The winner must provide proof of identity. Failure to comply may result in forfeiture of all rights to prize. The name of the winner will be posted on July 31st at http://scholarship.journyx.com/. The sponsor is not responsible for and shall not be liable for late, lost, misdirected, or unsuccessful efforts to notify winners. If a prize or prize notification letter or e-mail is returned as undeliverable, prize may be forfeited and an alternate winner will be awarded. Accepting and/or using prize constitutes permission of the Sponsor (except where prohibited by law) to use the winner's name, essay content, hometown (including state) and/or likeness (except where prohibited) for promotional, commercial, and publicity purposes without further compensation.
(5) General Terms and Conditions: By participating, entrants agree that Sponsor, its shareholders, agents and representatives, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising, promotion and fulfillment agencies, and legal advisors are not responsible or liable for, and shall be released from: (i) telephone, electronic, hardware or software program, network, Internet, or computer malfunctions, failures, or difficulties of any kind; (ii) any condition caused by events beyond the control of Sponsor that may cause the Contest to be disrupted or corrupted; (iii) any printing or typographical errors in any materials associated with the Contest; (iv) any and all losses, damages, rights, claims and actions of any kind in connection with or resulting from participation in the Contest, acceptance, possession, or use of any prize, including without limitation, personal injury, death, and property damage, and claims based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of privacy. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to suspend or cancel Contest at any time if a computer virus, bug, or other technical problem corrupts the administration, security, or proper conduct of the Contest. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of participant and Sponsor in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules or provisions (whether of the State of Texas or any other jurisdiction), that would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the State of Texas.
