Maintenance Contracts From Journyx

No one at Journyx ever likes to think about customers having problems with Timesheet - we pride ourselves on making sure it is the easiest to use and most reliable time and expense application on planet earth. But just in case something goes wrong, just in case a customer comes across a place where they need help, Journyx keeps a well-trained cadre of support ninjas locked away in a dark room, ready to be unleashed at a moment's notice to get things working right again.

The services of the support ninjas are available to everyone, even to our beloved "10 free" customers. But, since the care and feeding of support ninjas does impact our bottom line, we do have to prioritize their services. And one of the best ways to make sure you're at the top of the line for the ninjas' attention is to have a current maintenance contract with Journyx. With one of those on file you'll be certain to be among the first to feel the power of the support ninjas should you ever need it.

Oh, and lest you think that the attention of the support ninjas is the only benefit you receive with a Journyx maintenance contract, allow me to note that paid maintenance customers also get free access to the latest patch level as well as any new minor releases. But wait, there's more... you also receive a 50% discount on any new major releases you purchase. New major releases like the aforementioned Timesheet 7.0.

You read that right... 50% off of Timesheet 7.0 is yours if your have a maintenance contract with Journyx. And if you act fast and order or renew your maintenance contract now, I'd bet you a dollar that you'll get that 50% discount, too.

Open-source LAMP a beacon to developers

"For years, the business-software development world has been split largely between Microsoft's .Net toolset and Java. Get ready for a third option.

"The so-called LAMP stack of open-source software - which includes the Linux operating system, Apache Web server, MySQL database and scripting languages PHP, Perl or Python - is pushing its way into mainstream corporate computing.

"One of several smaller companies betting on the LAMP stack, start-up ActiveGrid announced on Monday partnerships that, combined with new software, could help expand LAMP's appeal among big companies. Partners include MySQL, Apache management provider Covalent, Linux company Novell and PHP tool maker Zend Technologies."

Automation Vendors Talk Trends And Give the Advice You Want on Agility and Integration

"Staffing firms and their automation vendors are increasingly on the same page, through user groups, a mutual view of technology as crucial to business processes, and the shared sense that good times are here and it's time to capitalize. That was the definite reaction we gathered as we asked automation vendors, in a semiannual survey, to talk about how the tech spectrum was doing, what trends they were seeing, and what staffing firms are requesting - or demanding.

"In a groundswell we first noticed building last year, staffing vendors expressed a renewed and increased respect for their customer's savvy and understanding of what strategic use of automation could do for their business. It certainly hasn't always been this way. Many vendors used to lament the slow process of tech adoption by staffing firms."

Accounting Software 411: The Future of Accounting Software - Probably

"Over the last decade or so, the accounting software industry has shifted from customers installing software at their physical locations to renting Web-based software over the Internet on a monthly basis. It's moving this way because customers want it to, and so do vendors, claims Curt Finch in his article about the future of accounting software. Mr. Finch lays out some compelling reasons why the pay as you go approach is appealing to may business and vendors alike and why he feels it will eventually be the dominant model of the future for software sales."
